This week sees the start of round two of the WA Government’s Kids Access All Areas Vouchers program giving children aged five to 15 access to arts, cultural and creative events across Western Australia. What a fantastic scheme, and something we encourage all States and Territories to adopt!
We did a quick scan to see if there are similar programs in action around the world, and we are pleased to report that countries and municipalities currently offering culture vouchers include Ireland, Moldova, Seoul, Singapore and Spain. The one common element is they are all targeting our young people, which is a great concept because that helps to create a lifelong participation in and support for arts and culture – but we’d love to see this carry through into the wider population as well.
That’s because voucher programs help to address the biggest barrier to attendance – cost – with recent Creative Australia research revealing that was the reason for more than half the survey respondents missing events they wanted to attend.

The Australian World Orchestra
The Australian World Orchestra performed two huge shows in two nights in Sydney and Melbourne in August – successfully round off its 15 Year Anniversary concerts. Keep your eye out for more as AWO immediately goes into planning 2027 – but not before celebrating all that has just happened. Melbourne Chamber Orchestra
