Australian Chamber Orchestra: A Clockwork Orange and Beyond in Wollongong

Giving Culture made it to the Wollongong performance of the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s A Clockwork Orange and Beyond, a fusion of modern and classical compositions, as well as electronic and traditional instruments – playing some of the most iconic pieces of film music there has ever been.

It was great to hear from one of our Culture Voucher holders (they also sent us photos!), who had redeemed their voucher for this concert:

“it’s such a buzz seeing incredible musical performances in regional locations like Wollongong. The audience was engaged and enthralled from the opening notes. An amazing night! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “

With tour dates still to play in Melbourne and Canberra over the next week, there are still plenty of performances left to see Richard Tognetti, the ACO, Goldfrapp’s Will Gregory and his ensemble of Moog Synthesisers featuring music by Wendy Carlos, Vangelis, John Williams and more.

We’re not sure if there are still tickets available for these upcoming shows, but the good news is that ABC Classic will be broadcasting the concert live from Hamer Hall in Melbourne on Sunday 21 May.

Here’s an excerpt from the review of the concert in Limelight magazine:

ACO and Will Gregory show us how Dr Robert Moog and Wendy Carlos helped change the soundtrack of our lives. ★★★★★

“The Allegro was a particular delight as Tognetti’s slightly amplified string band duelled with Gregory and Simon Haram playing electronic wind instruments. While these took the parts of the solo violins, synth bassist Dan Moore and keyboardist Hazel Mills (on her Sequential Prophet) managed the orchestral parts in a seamless, breathtaking rush of fugal entries and flying fingers.”
