Giving Culture and MCO creating a new path to the arts for Victorians

Melbourne Chamber Orchestra (MCO) has joined our corporate gift voucher program, providing existing gold and silver voucher holders immediate access to Overgrown Paths, MCO’s upcoming orchestral concerts in Melbourne, Yackandandah and Mornington from 7-10 May.

MCO Artistic Director and violinist, Sophie Rowell, leads a luminous fusion of music and poetry that culminates in The Four Seasons — voiced with Vivaldi’s original sonnets by acclaimed actress and narrator, Helen Morse. The concert opens with the ebullience of Hugo Wolf’s Italian Serenade, followed by Libby Croad’s Portraits for string orchestra, each movement paired with evocative poetry by Eleanor Percy. Janáček’s tender On an Overgrown Path then invites a quiet turn inward, rounding out a program of lyricism, storytelling, and emotional resonance.

“Giving Culture is a great initiative that helps make the arts more accessible to a community that might not have been aware of our ‘tiny but mighty’ orchestra otherwise. It’s a real ‘win-win’ situation,” said Adele Schonhardt OAM, Executive Director at MCO.

We’re thrilled to welcome MCO to Giving Culture’s family as our first Melbourne-based arts organisation. Our goal is to provide our voucher holders with opportunities to enjoy cultural experiences and support the arts wherever they are in Australia. As a very active and highly regarded participant in both the Melbourne cultural scene and regional Victoria, MCO fits the bill perfectly.

Giving Culture supports Australia’s not-for-profit arts sector, offering a range of gift voucher packages nationally across the fields of art, music, theatre, and film. MCO joins the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Australian Theatre for Young People, the Australian World Orchestra, Ensemble Offspring, Incognito Art Show and the Sydney Film Festival in our program.

For every voucher redeemed, 100% of its value flows through to Giving Culture’s arts partners, and the value of any expired vouchers is distributed as donations amongst participating partners. The Giving Culture program is an ideal way for Australian or international organisations to demonstrate their support for arts and culture, and at the same time delight and surprise their clients and staff with a unique and meaningful gift.
