ACO Carolina Eyck Theremin

This month’s update features some great collaborations from Australian World Orchestra and Sydney Film Festival, two new events from Australian Chamber Orchestra, and an early bird special for Australian Theatre for Young People’s upcoming holiday drama workshops.

Giving Culture was featured in Limelight earlier this month: “The Giving Culture Revolution”. The article gives some great insight into the inspiration behind Giving Culture, and also the additional value it brings to the arts sector and the corporations who support it. You can also find out more about Giving Culture’s co-founders here on our ‘Who We Are’ page.

The Australian World Orchestra is bringing something special to MAHLERFEST 2025, the first event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. In one unforgettable evening, Mahler’s Fourth and Fifth Symphonies will be performed back-to-back, immersing audiences in his powerful soundscapes.

As part of the event, AWO is undertaking a world first and teaming up with Charles Brooks, a former professional cellist who now explores music through photography. His Architecture in Music series uses specialised probe lenses and digital blending techniques to capture the hidden interiors of musical instruments, revealing details you’d never see with the naked eye.

This project features AWO musicians, including the wonderful Wilma Smith from Flinders Quartet and Wilma & Friends. Charles will be photographing her 1761 Guadagnini Violin, along with other instruments from AWO’s ensemble, showcasing the craftsmanship behind their sound.

AWO subscribers will have the opportunity to access these images through upcoming communications. Something very special is around the corner and AWO is excited to share more soon!

You can redeem your Gold or Silver Voucher now for MAHLERFEST concerts in Melbourne and Sydney in September.
